MS Action Goal: Drop the Part Complete! |
![]() |
by Stacey RomanowskiCorporate Marketing Over the past 35 years MS Action in McHenry, IL has evolved from a chucker and vertical machining job shop into a precision CNC shop. The perfect job at MS Action is a high quantity, precision part under 2" in diameter with milling and turning characteristics. This is a job for one CNC turning center with milling capabilities which is how we, at MSI, define Multi-tasking. |

MS Action has been purchasing the Mazak Quick Turn for fifteen years. They have found "Mazaks service to be excellent," "outstanding Mazatrol programming capabilities," and "the Mazak machine is built to last." In fact," Norm Stengel, (pictured left) Shop Foreman said, "the machines we bought in 1986 run today as good as they did in 1986." Therefore, MS Action had been comfortable with Mazak. "When we purchased the Multiplex we gained full control over the quality of the part because we can drop the part complete," explains Norm. His father, Fred Stengel (pictured right) adds that, "each time the part is touched and transferred to a new machine we lose control over accuracy." This has led them to their goal: drop each part complete with the help of automation and Multi-tasking. Norm revealed that, "an unforeseen by-product of our automation and multi-tasking capabilities is that we are even more responsive to our customers." In other words, MS Action can set-up the job and process their customers part faster. Their customers are in a variety of industries from hydraulics and automotive to computer testing and aviation. MS Action is on many of their customers certified vendor
lists. Certification is achieved when ten orders are shipped to a customer with no quality
issues. A typical MS Action customer will do a yearly audit of subsequent shipments and
potentially join in MS Actions "doc to stock" program. Furthermore, MS
Action is pursuing the ISO certification.
