Note From Prince Re: Sandvik Capto |
|
I would like to take a few minutes to thank your company on the help I recently received. I have been interested for a couple of years about using quick change tooling in our machines to speed up the set-up process. I contacted Ed Stedman and Hank Rutkowski from Sandvik and we started looking into trying a machine to compare Capto set-ups. I was confident that the product would work because I have used Sandvik as my dominant product for years. What I was most happy with was the team of Ed and Hank to help me get the process sold. I am the lead man in the Multiplex department but I prefer to work third shift. In the planning process Ed and Hank were at Prince on at least 10 occasions before 6AM helping me provide material to sell the project to management. We built a plan of spending $20,000.00 to test the product in one machine. Hank and Ed put together a power point presentation that we showed to management with a promise that we would see set-up reduction along with improved tool performance immediately on one of the five Multi's on the floor. If the project was successful we would extend the tooling to the other 4 Multi's and 2 Mori Seiki NL's. I was looking at the project as being a set-up time saver but we did see immediate results in improved tool life and performance. I want to thank Machinery Tooling for having an excellent partnership with Sandvik and such a good working relationship between the salesman. I have now submitted a proposal to our management on the success of the one machine and we are currently building in the budget for 2007 putting capto on 6 more machines. Bob Morris |
