Phil Hillson, Marketing Specialist for the Machinery Systems Used Equipment Group, was asked, “How does MSI Used manage to average just 63 days to sell all machines in your inventory?” Before I answer that question I have to comment that while we are pleased with the 63 days our goal is to continue to develop our systems to bring that number even lower. We know that the lower the number the “fresher” our inventory is for our customers. Anyway back to the question. It’s not just one thing we do to accomplish rapid turnover of our used machinery inventory. There are many things. For example, what might seem like a small item, we hand clean every machine that comes into our inventory, http://www.msiused.com/WhyBuyfromUs.htm. We do not use high pressure cleaning methods, so our customers know they will always get a clean machine that the electronics were not exposed to moisture, and that chips were not blown into the bearings, ball screws or linear guides. Also, we have excellent relationships with many banks, leasing and financing institutions. As a result of those relationships, we have the opportunity to remarket many of their acquired or repossessed machine tools. These always tend to be later model machine tools. I believe we are known as a used CNC dealer that has access to the later models. Another significant factor in our inventory turnover is our frequently updated used machinery website, www.msiused.com. Thousands of potential customers that have bookmarked our website and check the site on a regular basis for our "fresh" listings. Finally, there is one item that we believe truly differentiates us in the used machinery business. Even though it’s the responsibility of the customer to arrange for shipment of the machine tool they purchase, we watch and document every step of the packing and shipping process. We will not allow a machine to ship unless the truck is equipped with “air ride” trailer and cab. All of the machines are properly secured, tarpped and the entire process is photographed. Point and click here http://www.msiused.com/PhotoDocumentation.htm for a typical example of how we prepare machines for shipment. We do everything we can to make sure there are no unpleasant surprises for our customers. Because of these things and many others our customers know that they can come to us with the confidence that MSI Used will significantly lower their risk of buying a used piece of CNC equipment. |
