Position Description

Machinery Systems, Inc., a leading Midwest CNC machine tool distributor with a 30 year history of representing Mazak, the world’s largest machine tool builder, is seeking field service technicians to join our expanding business.  Two positions are available.  One for our Schaumburg, IL, headquarters office; the other for our Brookfield, WI, office.   The field service technicians will travel to customer locations throughout their respective territories.

The Field Service Technician's primary responsibilities will be to troubleshoot and repair both electrical and mechanical aspects of a wide range of Mazak standard machine tool products. As a secondary aspect of the position, the technician will provide installation and customer training on the proper usage of Mazak machine tools and Mazatrol programming. 

 Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years in a machine tool Field Service Technician or repair position with an end user, distributor or builder of CNC machine tools.
  • Requires strong problem solving skills with excellent knowledge of both mechanical and electrical areas of repair of CNC machine tools.
  • Must be a self starter and be highly motivated.
  • Must possess strong customer service orientation, be flexible to adjust to customer demands and have effective communication skills.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and knowledge of PLC’s is desirable.
  • Mazatrol programming experience is a plus.  
  • Must hold and maintain an unrestricted driver’s license.

Position Description


Machinery Systems, Inc., a leading Midwest CNC machine tool distributor with a 30 year history of representing Mazak, the world’s largest machine tool builder, is seeking a sales representative to join our expanding business.  

The Level 1 Sales Representative position is a great place to start your career at Machinery Systems.  The intention of this position is to provide a training ground for reps starting in the sales position in the machine tool industry.  Working from our Brookfield, Wisconsin Technical Center, the Level 1 rep will be responsible for a smaller geographic territory that consists of both existing and potential customers.  With assistance from the sales manager and the team's senior representatives, the Level 1 rep will experience every aspect of the partnership between Machinery Systems, our vendors, and our customers.  The Level 1 representative will learn our products, markets, industry and the Machinery Systems sales process and skills.  The Level 1 rep will be a direct point of contact for those customers in their assigned geographic territory, assisting in product and application inquiries, expediting the sales process and following through on customer requests.  Unlike entry sales positions at other companies, the MSI Level 1 Sales Representative will have the opportunity to develop opportunities at their own accounts, benefiting directly from their success at accounts within their assigned geographic territory.

Sales Responsibilities

  • Customer prospect profile maintenance
  • Prepare proposals and consult on solutions
  • Customer service and account development
  • Participation in marketing programs and events
  • Quote prices, prepare proposals and provide information regarding terms of sales and delivery dates
  • Throughout the qualification process, the Level 1 Sales Representative will learn to identify the specific needs of clients, departments and entire organizations and how Machinery Systems' solutions meet those needs
  • Report to management on customer relationships, pipeline, forecasts and new prospects
  • Develop relationships with customer(s) through the use of database, phone calls, personal activities, events and various other methods

General Responsibilities
  • Answer phones and assist callers with their needs
  • Develop customer orders
  • Assist walk-in customers
  • Act resourcefully and in an innovative way to solve problems and complete tasks
  • Communicate constructively to management and team members on problems, ideas or any other insights to assist in defining new ideas, policies and procedures

  • Technical aptitude in mechanical equipment

Physical Demands include
  • Shipping, receiving and packing of equipment and supplies
  • Ability to carry supplies, parts and equipment of various weights in to various situations
  • Car and air travel
